Chelsea are amongst the ‘frontrunners’ attempting to bring Palmeiras striker Endrick over to Europe, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 16-year-old sensation has made headlines in recent months for a handful of outstanding displays for his boyhood club and is expected to seal a switch away from his homeland imminently.

What is the latest news involving Endrick?

Romano provided an update on Endrick’s situation earlier this month, revealing that there are three European giants ‘ahead of all the other clubs’ fighting for his signature.

“Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are the three clubs that are pushing hard to sign Endrick. They are ahead of all the other clubs,” the transfer expert tweeted.

“There's no official bids to Palmeiras yet - but it will happen soon. Release clause: €60m (£52.5m). Endrick would join in 2024.”

The Times has since reported that Chelsea hosted the teenager and his family at the club’s Cobham training ground and introduced him to Brazilian legend Thiago Silva.

Endrick is likely to have his pick of potential suitors having made history in October by becoming the youngest player to feature for Palmeiras at 16 years, two months and 16 days.

What has Romano said about Endrick?

It’s believed that Endrick bagged 165 goals in 169 games for Palmeiras’ academy sides before making his senior debut.

And Romano reiterated to GiveMeSport that Chelsea, alongside Madrid and PSG, are leading the charge for the Brazilian at this moment in time.

He said: “What I'm told is that there are three frontrunners, and they are Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. These three clubs are in a fight to try and sign Endrick with different strategies.”

Would Endrick be a good signing?

Endrick has found the back of the net on three occasions in seven first-team outings for Palmeiras, setting up one further strike for his teammates along the way.

And Arsenal and former Palmeiras forward Gabriel Jesus is amongst the South American’s many admirers.

"I've been following Endrick a lot," he told ESPN. "During the time I was training at the academy when I was coming back from injury, Ze Roberto introduced us. Then I saw him on the field...

"Wow, he's a star. Phenomenon! He's 16 now, right? When I was 15, I was in the academy but he's in the seniors. I'm really rooting for him.”

Fending off the competition for Enrick’s services could prove to be a significant coup for Chelsea and co-owner Todd Boehly as he looks to guide them into a new, successful era.
