Tottenham Hotspur target James Maddison would bring a 'feel good factor' to the club if he were to make a transfer switch, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Leicester City midfielder has been in fine form in recent weeks, earning himself a call-up to the England squad for the World Cup, and he is now being linked with a move to North London.

What is the latest news involving Maddison?

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs recently indicated that Tottenham are one of a number of potential suitors for the 25-year-old, who has his contract up at the King Power Stadium in 2024, so his current club may consider cashing in on the playmaker while they still can.

The same report states that Tottenham may have the edge on other Premier League clubs if they secure Champions League football for a second season in a row, as playing at that level is of great appeal to Maddison.

Newcastle United are also interested in his signature, however, and according to Football Insider they are plotting a swoop in the January transfer window, after seeing offers of up to £50m rejected in the summer.

What has Jones said about Maddison?

Jones has waxed lyrical about the impact that Maddison would have, wherever he ends up, saying in an interview with GIVEMESPORT:

"I think most clubs would want to see James Maddison come in, he's a player that brings such a feel-good factor with him.

"There's not many fan bases that would not want to see James Maddison become part of their setup, he's an exciting player, he's somebody too that you could, as a fan, relate to."

Should Tottenham make an offer for him?

The Englishman has been in incredible form this season, despite Leicester making a slow start, registering seven goals and four assists in 13 league appearances.

Such performances have seen him labelled "astoundingly talented" by football writer Martin Lipton, and he has more than merited his selection for England in the upcoming World Cup, delivering the joint-highest goal tally of any English midfielder in the Premier League.

The only sticking point for Antonio Conte's side is likely to be the price, as his stock has no doubt increased since the summer, when a £50m bid from Newcastle was not deemed good enough by the Leicester hierarchy.

Engaging in a bidding war with the PIF-owned club may prove costly, but Maddison still has his best years ahead of him, and would be a worthwhile investment for Tottenham.
