Everton ‘definitely’ have the ‘capability’ to be in the ‘conversation’ for Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Daichi Kamada, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 26-year-old’s current contract at the Deutsche Bank Park is due to expire next summer, sparking speculation that he could be set to move onto pastures new in the near future.

What is the latest news involving Kamada?

A recent report from Forbes (via TEAMtalk) claimed that Everton ‘remain interested’ in making a move for Kamada.

It’s believed that the likes of Benfica and fellow Premier League outfit Leeds United are also eager to snap up the 22-cap Japan international, while Frankfurt have not given up hope of tying him down to fresh terms.

However, German outlet Kicker claim that the possibility of Kamada departing the Bundesliga outfit for free is becoming a reality as they are struggling to convince him to put pen to paper on a new deal.

That should give Frank Lampard and co. confidence in their pursuit of the creative talent, although fending off the competition from Benfica, who are in the Champions League knockout stages, may prove difficult.

What has Jones said about Kamada?

Jones believes that Everton have the ability to attract Kamada to Goodison Park yet reckons a strong showing for Hajime Moriyasu’s charges in Qatar could raise the interest levels in him even further.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “I definitely think that Everton have the capability to be in the conversation for a player like that.

“I think that the question will be is that there are obviously other clubs that have him on their radar, and with the World Cup coming up, there may be even more in a few weeks’ time.”

Would Kamada be a good signing?

Kamada, who is comfortable playing as a central attacking midfielder or on the left-wing, registered nine goals and four assists in 46 appearances for Frankfurt last season.

The 6 foot gem played a key role in the Eagles claiming the Europa League, and he has elevated his game to new heights in the opening weeks of 2022/23, leading to him being labelled “exceptional”.

Kamada has registered 12 goals and four assists in 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season and has been called up to his nation’s World Cup squad.

He could prove to be a valuable addition to Everton’s toothless attack should he make the switch, providing Lampard with some much-needed extra firepower.
