Leeds United have been given an update on the "big investment" into the club by their current minority shareholders by journalist Dean Jones.

The 49ers have had a growing influence at Leeds, and could be set to take over completely in the not so distant future.

What is the latest news involving Leeds?

Leeds are currently part-owned by 49ers Enterprises, who own a 44% stake in the West Yorkshire club, but rumours are now swirling that the American group could be set for a full takeover at Elland Road next summer.

LeedsLive reports that January 2024 is the deadline for Enterprises to push the button and commence a full takeover, with there being no recent changes in stance from either side.

The Times have indicated that although the option to buy out majority shareholder Andrea Radrizzani is not until 2024, the current minority owners could act by the end of the season to secure complete control at the club ahead of time.

In terms of what the club would cost, the Daily Mail state that this will be influenced by whether Leeds maintain their Premier League status this season, while they also point out that Radrizzani may not be ready to relinquish his stake in the club, as there are still things that he wants to achieve.

What has Jones about the 49ers' investment?

Jones has also given the impression that the 49ers could conclude a deal sooner than expected, with the "big investment" potentially on its way next summer.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT:

"The last messages I was getting on this was that the big investment would be expected to come in time for next summer, so that's the approximate timeframe I'm still going by at the moment."

Is it good news for Leeds?

The 49ers have had a growing presence at Elland Road, first taking control of 15% of the club in May 2018, before gradually increasing this from 37%, to 44%.

Consequently, it is not just a new group of owners coming in that do not understand the club, they have worked alongside Radrizzani for many years now, and news of further investment by proven owners in America should prove to be good news for Leeds fans.

Radrizzani also seems to believe that the club's future will be in good hands, describing them as "supportive and a "solid partner", so the future is looking very bright in West Yorkshire.

Whether the 49ers take control in the summer or in January 2024, the club is likely to be in very good hands.
