Rangers are deemed to be an "attractive option" for ex-Premier League boss Sean Dyche by journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The former Burnley manager has been out of work since being sacked by the Clarets last April, but could be considered as a successor for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who is under pressure at Ibrox.

What is the latest news involving Rangers?

Rangers are faltering in the Scottish Premiership title race, and they find themselves nine points behind bitter rivals Celtic after a disappointing 1-1 draw against St. Mirren at the weekend.

Not only has the domestic form not been up to par, but the Gers finished bottom of their Champions League group, picking up 0 points, with the goal difference they acquired giving them the unwanted record of the worst performance in the competition's history.

These showings have caused Van Bronckhorst to come under fire, with his future at the club considered to be in serious doubt by the Daily Record, although Dutch pundit Marcel van der Kraan suggested to Sky Sports that he will remain at the club until the conclusion of the World Cup (via Football Scotland).

Whether the Ibrox hierarchy decide to part with the 47-year-old now, or give him another opportunity to turn things around, the club will continue to be linked with other available managers, and Dyche is in the frame, as well as former coach Michael Beale (Football Insider).

What has O'Rourke said about Dyche?

O'Rourke has outlined Dyche as a good option for both parties, considering the Englishman's links to senior figures at the club.

In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, O'Rourke said:

"Somebody like Sean Dyche who is out of work could be a potential target for Rangers as well, he's got links with sporting director Ross Wilson from their time together at Watford.

"He's out of work and looking for a job, and I'm sure Rangers would be an attractive option for someone like Sean Dyche with what they can offer."

Would Dyche be a good appointment for Rangers?

The 51-year-old had a remarkable ten years in charge at Burnley, twice getting the club promoted to the Premier League, while also finishing in the top half twice, on one occasion guiding the club to the new heights of European football.

In their second stint in England's top flight, the Clarets remained there for six seasons, and so the sacking of a manager who former Burnley academy worker Lee Waddington labelled an "absolute genius" was met with widespread shock at the club.

We will never know whether Dyche would have preserved the Clarets' Premier League status, however he had a fantastic previous record, and it was a bemusing decision from those in charge at the club.

Although there were very different expectations in place at his previous club, with Burnley more concerned about avoiding relegation and Rangers always aiming to win the league, the tactician has displayed in his Championship promotion campaigns that he is capable of coaching a side to victory in the majority of their games.

As such, if the team from Glasgow do decide to part with Van Bronckhorst, the appointment of Dyche would be a very astute one.
