Nike’s new advert for the 2022 FIFA World Cup has been released and it’s delivered as usual.

Over the years, Nike has produced some of the greatest sporting adverts ever made, including the famous “Just Do It” ad and Michael Jordan’s “Failure” commercial.

The “Winner Stays” advert ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil also remains iconic to this day.

Their latest masterpiece, however, features a number of football’s best players and could well be one of the best we’ve seen yet.

Which players are in the Nike advert?

The advert, which contains countless football superstars, sees French forward Kylian Mbappe and Brazilian icon Ronaldinho at the centre of attention.

Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo also plays a part in the commercial, as do Belgium's Kevin De Bruyne and Dutch star Virgil van Dijk.

Several players from the women’s game are visible too, inducing US women’s national team hero Alex Morgan and Chelsea striker Sam Kerr.

What happens in the Nike advert?

Titled “The GOAT Experiment”, the advert focuses on scientists writing a formula that will put an end to any discussion about the best player of all time.

With the push of a button, Mbappe finds himself in a testing room alongside Ronaldinho, who appears just as he did during his glory years at Barcelona.

The players are soon informed that scientists have devised an experiment to determine who is the superior footballer.

Brazilian striker Ronaldo Nazario is transported from Japan to take on present-day Mbappe and Ronaldinho.

Soon, a second version of Nazario appears - with the former proceeding to laugh at future Ronaldo's haircut.

As the two begin to strut their stuff, more legends are soon added to the mix, including De Bruyne, Morgan and Van Dijk.

Eventually, Cristiano Ronaldo shows up, scores a goal and then proceeds to bring out his trademark “sui” celebration.

The advert ends with Nazario showing up in real life to ask what on earth is happening before the scientists decide they want to try and transport to the future.

What did fans think of the Nike advert?

Understandably, fans are loving the advert.

“Damn. I can rewatch this over and over again,” said one Twitter user.

Another wrote: “One of the best adverts I’ve ever seen. Quality.”

A third echoed this idea and put: “Now that's what I call an advert.”
