Natasha Jonas has responded to reports that a rematch with Terri Harper could be on the cards.According to Harper’s trainer Stefy Bull, Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has sent a "large high end six figure offer" to Jonas’ team for the mouthwatering rematch. However, the former Matchroom fighter has responded to this claim and also suggested she is now earning more money while with current promotion BOXXER.

What did Natasha Jonas say?

The statement from Bull read: "I can confirm that a large high end six figure offer has been sent to team Jonas for #HarperJonas2 from Matchroom Boxing.

"One of the best female fights to have taken place. Undisputed on the line. It’s got history, it’s got everything."

Hearn and Matchroom are looking to set up an undisputed super-welterweight world title fight between Jonas and Harper. 

This is something Jonas appears to be unaware of, judging by her response. 

"Matchroom, big six figures? Oxymoron, stop the cap," she wrote alongside laughing emojis. "I’ve been getting big six figures since I left. But we'll see."

The nature of her response suggested it is not the idea of a rematch against Harper that she is doubting, but more the money on offer from Matchroom Boxing.

Jonas signed an exclusive long-term promotional agreement with BOXXER in November 2021. She has since won all four of her bouts, including a victory over Patricia Berghult in her home city, where she won the WBC female super-welterweight title and retained the WBO female junior-middleweight title.

She now holds both belts, as well as the IBF female light middleweight title, having beaten Chris Namús, Berghult and most recently Marie-Eve Dicaire to claim the straps.

What happened when Jonas last faced Harper?

Jonas and Harper met in August 2020, where the latter put her WBC super-featherweight title on the line.

It was an extremely close affair, with Harper looking as though she would drop the belt on her first defence. 

However, she was able to hold onto her title after a split decision draw. 

One scorecard showed 96-95 in Jonas’ favour, while Harper received 96-94 in the second, and the third was tied at 95-95.

Since retaining her title against Jonas, Harper has won three of her four bouts, losing only to Alycia Baumgardner last year. 

Both fighters wanted a rematch following the thrilling fight, so perhaps a revisit is somewhat overdue.
