The Dane arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer from Brentford during the summer and has thoroughly impressed.

How has Eriksen performed at United this season?

He has easily been one of their best players and is clearly an individual who manager Erik ten Hag really trusts.

Eriksen has featured in 13 Premier League games for his new side so far, meaning that he has missed just one match.

The 30-year-old has also been a regular in United's Europa League campaign, playing in all six of their group stage fixtures.

In total, Eriksen has racked up six assists, which includes a delightful cross to Marcus Rashford in the Red Devils' 1-0 win against West Ham at the end of last month.

What has Jones said about Eriksen?

From what he has seen so far, Jones thinks Eriksen is in the conversation for signing of the season.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer reporter said: "I think when you evaluate the value of the player compared to his performance levels, Eriksen has to be a candidate for signing of the season. He helped them move on, too, from the Frenkie de Jong saga.

"He helped bring a style of play and experience and just a level of performance that United hadn't been capable of before this moment. So, undoubtedly, he has to be considered one of the best signings of the year."

How has Eriksen become so crucial for United?

United do not really have any other midfielders like the Denmark international, someone who can move the ball forward and create chances for the attackers.

As per FBref, Eriksen has ranked in the 89th percentile for progressive passes among his positional peers over the last year, while the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have ranked in the 74th and 35th respectively.

Described as a "phenomenon" by former team-mate Dele Alli, Eriksen has also ranked in the 97th percentile for shot-creating actions, so it is clear to see that he is a midfielder who makes things happen.

On the £150,000-a-week star, United legend and current Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick recently said: “It almost doesn’t matter what position he plays. He can adapt. He’s just a clever, intelligent footballer with great quality.

“I was pleased when we signed him, and he’s not surprised me one bit. He’s a top player.”

Without a doubt, you will not find too many better summer signings than the former Inter Milan and Tottenham man.
