Minnesota Vikings announcer Paul Allen has seen his commentary go viral over social media, and it’s easy to see why.

The Minnesota Vikings are now, by virtue of the Philadelphia Eagles’ loss to the Washington Commanders on Monday night, the most in-form team in the National Football League, as they have rattled off a total of seven straight wins on way to an 8-1 record, a win streak that included their win this weekend over the Buffalo Bills.

That record is good enough for them to hold onto the #2 seed at the moment in the NFC playoff standings, but given the teams that they have beaten on their way to get this far, and some of the teams that they have to face between now and the end of the season, it isn’t unthinkable to think they might sneak the #1 seed, especially given how tough the NFC East has been this season.

However, no matter who they play between now and the end of the season, it’s highly unlikely that they will have quite as nerve-wracking a finish as the one that they endured up at Orchard Park this past Sunday when they took on the Bills.

The Minnesota Vikings get another miracle

Everyone knows the story of the ‘Minneapolis Miracle’, where the Vikings pulled off an incredible win against the New Orleans Saints in the final few seconds of a playoff game. Well this one was arguably more miraculous given the circumstances.

Having got down to the Bills’ 1-yard line, and after failing to sneak the ball into the endzone, the game looked lost for the Vikings, as all the Bills had to do was drive forward and run the clock out. Sadly for them though, they couldn’t even get one snap off cleanly as quarterback Josh Allen fumbled the ball away.

And if you think that the commentators on the FOX broadcast were stunned, that’s nothing compared to the reaction that came from Paul Allen on the Vikings’ broadcast, who couldn’t contain himself both in the immediate aftermath of the play and what ensured during the overtime period that included the Vikings taking the lead and then Allen throwing an interception to win the game in a clip that has garnered over 3.9m views on Twitter and 1.5m views on TikTok.

There really is nothing quite like the voice of the hometown team’s announcer calling a dramatic moment just to give that extra bit of emotion, and Allen certainly made the most of his opportunity.
