In recent years, WWE has experienced a Women’s Revolution, with female wrestlers quickly becoming amongst the biggest stars in the company.
The Four Horsewomen of NXT, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley, are rightly credited with helping bring women’s wrestling to heights never seen before. They have been joined by the likes of Alexa Bliss, Bianca Belair and even Ronda Rousey.
Prior to this current generation, women’s wrestling was held down by names like Lita, Trish Stratus and prior to them The Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young.
But which women have won the most World Championships? The following titles will be considered: Women’s, Divas, Smackdown, Raw and NXT.
With this in mind, GiveMeSport takes you through the women to win the most World Championships in WWE history…
=10. The Fabulous Moolah – 4 reigns
The Fabulous Moolah
Moolah was the first ever WWE Women’s Championship, having won the belt in 1956 while WWE was still part of the NWA. Her reign is recognised as lasting for an uninterrupted and frankly staggering 28 years. She later won titles well into her 60s and 70s.
=10. Lita – 4 reigns
Lita was the definition of a “cool” woman in the era of the Divas. She took chair shots from men and hit moonsaults off the top rope. She won her first Women’s Title in 2000 and added a further three in 2004-2006. She was the first woman to main event Raw and also lost the title in her final match.
=10. Michelle McCool – 4 reigns
The wife of The Undertaker had a serious career of her own. She twice held the Women’s Championship in 2009 and 2010, her first reign lasting 216 days. Prior to that, she was the first-ever Diva’s Champion in 2008, and then unified the two Titles at Night of Champions 2010.
=10. Beth Phoenix – 4 reigns
Beth Phoenix
The Glamazon was the closest thing to Chyna WWE ever had. She won the Women’s Championship three times and later added a Diva’s Title to her CV. Three of her reigns lasted 160+ days, a testament to her dominance of the division. Could she yet win another Title alongside Edge?
=10. Bayley – 4 reigns
Bayley won the NXT Championship against her on-off best friend Sasha Banks in 2015 in a highly acclaimed match. She has since added two Smackdown and one Raw Titles to her name, her second Smackdown reign being the longest of that belt. She is sure to add more in the coming years.
=5. Asuka – 5 reigns
Asuka
Bayley’s NXT reign ended at the hands of Asuka, who went onto to be the longest holder of the belt, 522 days in total. She only dropped the title due to injury. Asuka has also won two Raw and one Smackdown, being the oldest woman to win both of those titles.
=5. Melina – 5 reigns
Another of the women who held down the division prior to the Revolution in the mid-2010s. Melina won three Women’s Championships and two Diva’s Championships in her career between 2007 and 2010. She is perhaps one of the more underrated female influences in WWE history.
=5. Alexa Bliss – 5 reigns
Bliss is a three-time Raw Women’s Champion and a two-time Smackdown Women’s Champion, being the youngest winner of the second Title. Her most recent run with a belt came as a result of a Money in the Bank cash-in.
=4. Becky Lynch – 6 reigns
Becky Lynch
“The Man” is possibly the most important women’s wrestler in recent memory, having climbed to heights unseen before for a female in the industry. Lynch is the inaugural winner of the Smackdown Championship (4 total reigns), the longest-reigning Raw Champion at 398 days (2 total reigns) and the only woman to hold both belts at the same time.
=4. Mickie James – 6 reigns
Mickie is a five-time Women’s Champion, defeating Trish, Lita, Melina, Beth and Michelle McCool for the belt. Quite a feat. She later added the Diva’s Championship to her accolades, and has gone onto win four Knockouts Championships in Impact.
=2. Trish Stratus – 7 reigns
The most iconic female wrestler of the 2000s and someone who retired from full-time wrestling at the age of just 30. In her final match she defeated best friend Lita for her seventh Women’s Championship. Of her six previous reigns, her fifth lasted 447 days, the third longest run in the title’s history.
=2. Sasha Banks – 7 reigns
Sasha Banks
“The Boss” is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in WWE, even if her future remains up in the air. Her seven titles came in NXT (1), Smackdown (1) and Raw (5). She is the youngest winner of the Raw belt at 24 years of age. Her single Smackdown reign (167 days) lasted longer than all of her Raw reigns (116 days). Blue is the colour.
1. Charlotte Flair – 15 reigns
Like her father, Charlotte is a verified belt collector. Her 15 reigns tower off the rest of the women on this list, and she is the only one to win four different Titles. Her two NXT title reigns came six years apart (2014-2020). She has won six titles apiece on Raw and Smackdown. She was the final Diva’s Champion and the first ever Raw Women’s Champion, defeating Becky and Sasha in a match to crown a new Women’s Champ and retire the Diva’s belt and tag from history.
