Tottenham Hotspur might face ‘a bit of a scrap’ for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Thuram is currently one of the most in-demand stars thanks to his £82,000-per-week contract only having eight months left to run, sparking speculation over where he will ply his trade next term.

What is the latest news involving Thuram?

German outlet BILD have claimed that Tottenham are among a handful of top clubs across the continent taking an interest in the 25-year-old alongside Inter Milan, Marseille and Juventus.

Fabrizio Romano has also revealed that Thuram will ‘consider all options’ over the coming months with the January transfer window fast approaching.

“I think there will be many rumours around Thuram as he’s good player available as potential free agent in the summer,” he wrote for CaughtOffside.

“I’m told he could really leave on a free transfer, so he’ll consider all options in the next months.”

Thuram received a late call-up to Didier Deschamps’ 26-player squad for this month’s World Cup in Qatar, and he could put himself well and truly in the shop window with some impressive displays.

What has Jones said about Thuram?

Jones believes that Arsenal are also eager to secure the versatile attacker’s signature, meaning Spurs may have to battle their north London rivals.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “The Thuram situation isn't totally clear yet, but it's reasonable to believe he's considering his next move.

“Arsenal have been linked with him too, so there might yet be a bit of a scrap for him if he fancies actually moving to England.”

Would Thuram be a good signing?

In 17 league and cup appearances so far this season, Thuram has been in outstanding form for the Bundesliga outfit, registering 13 goals and four assists.

“Thuram is a world-class striker. You have to say it like that. He has world-class stature,” said Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer after the Frenchman bagged a brace against his side last month.

As per FBref, the 6 foot 4 ace has also ranked in the 92nd percentile for completed dribbles, 91st for touches in the attacking penalty area, 90th for total shots, 89th for interceptions, and 83rd for progressive passes received amongst his positional peers over the last year.

Tottenham are the third-highest scorers in the Premier League at this moment in time, but the addition of Thuram to Antonio Conte’s ranks would make them an even deadlier force.
