Arsenal target Mykhailo Mudryk will have been impressed by the Gunners' current position ahead of a possible January move, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Gunners have long been linked with the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker, with Fabrizio Romano recently suggesting the club had held positive talks with the player, who has starred for the Ukrainian club in their last two Champions League campaigns.

How good have Arsenal been this season?

It has been an impressive first half of the season for Arsenal, who currently sit at the Premier League summit, five points clear of reigning champions Manchester City.

The Gunners have only lost one of their 14 Premier League games so far this season, while they've also qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League, having topped their group ahead of PSV Eindhoven.

What does Dean Jones think of Mudryk's possible move to the Emirates?

Jones believes that the Ukrainian already has his sights set on moving to north London and would have been impressed with the club's evolution under Mikel Arteta.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I think he could. I don't think there's any doubt that he's already keen on this move.

"He's been impressed by the turnaround that they've made at the club, the fact that they made a big decision to ditch Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and moved towards having faith in different kinds of players, that will have impressed him."

Will Arsenal move for Mudryk in January?

There were various reports over the summer that Arsenal were on the verge of signing Mudryk, with personal teams already agreed with the player.

However, they couldn't agree a fee for the 21-year-old, having tabled a bid of around £45million, while Everton and Nice also had bids rejected for the the player.

Mudryk's performances in Europe this season, where he's scored three goals for Shakhtar, could see Arsenal rejoin the race in January, but they would now have to spend close to £88million to secure his services.

Speaking to CBS Sports in September, Mudryk admitted it was his dream to play in the Premier League, stating: "My dream is to play in the Premier League, of course. Arsenal is a very good team, very good manager. So from my side, I can't say no to Arsenal!"

The left-footed playmaker has 17 goal contributions this season and would be an exciting acquisition for Arsenal as they look to strengthen their hold on the Premier League's top spot. Mikel Arteta has also been linked with moves for Danilo and Yeremy Pino in the winter window.
