Manchester United could add a new right-back to the squad in January with Aaron Wan-Bissaka “basically never playing”, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The former Crystal Palace full-back has played second fiddle to Portugal international Diogo Dalot throughout the current campaign.

What’s the latest news on Wan-Bissaka?

According to The Sun, Wan-Bissaka’s former club are interested in taking the right-back on loan at Selhurst Park until the end of the season in the January transfer window.

The same article suggests that the Eagles would have to pay the 24-year-old’s £90k-per-week wages in full, with a loan being the only way that the club can afford him at this moment in time.

Wan-Bissaka moved to Old Trafford from Palace in the summer of 2019 in a £50m deal but has fallen out of favour with new manager Erik ten Hag this season, playing just four minutes of Premier League action so far this campaign.

And Romano believes that United may add another right-back in January, with Dalot being the only option the Dutch manager currently utilises.

What has Romano said about Manchester United?

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “The idea was to keep the current squad in January, maybe to add a new right-back because it is the other position that they are looking for in the January window because Wan-Bissaka is basically never playing.

“So, Diogo Dalot is always performing so well, but he's the only one and they need competition.”

Who could Manchester United buy in January?

With Wan-Bissaka’s future at Manchester United seemingly ending in one fashion or another, the three-time European Cup winners will have their eyes on several replacements.

The Sun reported at the end of October that the Manchester club were keeping tabs on Norwich City’s Max Aarons, who is valued at £10m by the Championship side.

The 22-year-old has got Barcelona in 2020.

And according to Romano back in October, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is also another potential right-back option at Old Trafford, with the Premier League giants sending their scouts to observe the 21-year-old in the Bundesliga.

The former Celtic full-back has made 21 appearances for the German side this season and has managed to net five goals and produce three assists in that time, according to Transfermarkt.

With Wan-Bissaka’s future at Old Trafford looking uncertain, it looks safe to say that there is a multitude of options around for Manchester United to target, should the club let their £50m signing leave the club in January.
