Saudi Arabia's Yasser Al-Shahrani suffered a horrific-looking injury in the final few minutes after a clash with goalkeeper, Mohammed Al-Owais.

Saudi Arabia produced an incredible performance to beat Argentina 2-1 with goals from Saleh Al-Shehri & Salem Al-Dawsari

Lionel Messi had given Argentina a 10th minute lead from the penalty spot.

It was a first half in which the Argentines looked in total control.

Lionel Scaloni's side had THREE goals disallowed and it looked just a matter of time before they scored a second.

However, in five crazy second half minutes to match was turned on its head.

Alshehri equalised just minutes after half time before Aldawsari's made it 2-1 just five minutes later.

Crazy. Absolutely crazy.

Despite there being 35 minutes left to play - plus the vast amount of injury-time, Saudi held on.

They defended for their lives as Messi and co. were unable to force an equaliser.

However, in their determination to hold onto their lead, we witnessed a horrific clash between defender Al-Shahrani and his goalkeeper.

As a late cross came into the box, Al-Owais came out to punch it. However, his knee collided with the face of Al-Shahrani. There were immediate concerns for the defender who appeared knocked out. Al-Owais himself frantically waved for the medical staff to come on.

Incredibly, the play was allowed to continue for several moments before the referee realised what had happened.

After several moments of concern, Al-Shahrani managed to walk off the pitch and was then seen with his thumbs up while being stretchered off.

It seems Al-Shahrani has avoided any serious injury.

Saudi shock Argentina

But Saudi pulled off one of the biggest shocks in the competition's history by beating Argentina.

Lionel Scaloni's side went into the tournament as second favourites behind Brazil with many believing Messi will finally get his hands on the biggest prize in football.

However, they now face a fight to get through Group C.

On paper, Saudi are the weakest side with Poland and Mexico also in the group.

It means Argentina needs results against both Mexico and Poland to ensure they progress to the last-16 of the competition.

As for Saudi, they will be dreaming of repeating their heroics and reaching the knockout stages of the World Cup which would have been beyond their wildest imaginations.
