West Ham United manager David Moyes may take the opportunity of the World Cup break to work with some of his summer signings, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The London Stadium side currently sit 16th in the Premier League at the break, with the Irons just one point above the relegation zone.

What’s the latest on West Ham’s summer signings?

West Ham made eight permanent additions to the squad during the last summer transfer market, having spent over £150m in transfer fees.

However, the club's lowly position in the Premier League has led to criticism of manager Moyes, with fans and pundits alike perhaps expecting a bit more from the side considering how much money was spent in the summer.

Club record £51m signing Lucas Paquetá has Maxwel Cornet has spent the majority of his time at the club on the treatment table.

But Sheth believes that the break for the World Cup could have come at a good time for West Ham and that Moyes may be using the time to bed the new signings into the side at training.

What has Sheth said about Moyes?

Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: “They gave him all of this money and David Moyes whenever you hear him in news conferences, yes, he's getting a lot of criticism from the fans, but he will always say, look, these are new players, a lot of them come from abroad and from different leagues, they just need time to settle down.

“Now I just wonder, whether he'll be able to use this break and whether the players that have remained and haven't gone to the World Cup, he can work with them in this five-six-week period, to get them ready for the second half of the season.”

What’s the hope for West Ham?

Moyes will be hoping that his new signings can fire the side up the table and away from a potential relegation battle in the second half of the campaign.

£30.5m signing Gianluca Scamacca has shown signs of promise in the Premier League for the Irons having scored two goals in two consecutive back in October, but Moyes will have hoped for a greater production of goals from the Italian this season.

Therefore, it could be claimed that the break has come at an ideal time for Moyes, and this World Cup break could be just what he needs to turn the Irons’ season around.
