Manchester United are going to have to pay a lot of money to bring Robert Sanchez to Old Trafford, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils are currently being linked with the Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper, but Jones does not think signing him will be a straightforward task.

What is the latest news involving Sanchez?

TEAMtalk recently reported that United manager Erik ten Hag is currently considering Sanchez.

According to the outlet, the Spaniard has been identified as a potential replacement for compatriot David de Gea, who could leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

De Gea is into the final 12 months of his contract, though United do have the option to extend it by another year.

If not, though, it appears that they will consider making a move for Sanchez.

What has Jones said about Sanchez and United?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that United are going to have to get their wallet out if they want to sign Sanchez.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "It's an interesting one. I mean, you've got to consider that Sanchez is going to cost a lot of money if there's going to be a transfer involving him. Brighton aren't going to let him go on the cheap."

Is anyone else interested in Sanchez?

United could face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea if they decide to go after Sanchez next summer.

According to the Daily Mail, former Brighton manager Graham Potter is interested in a reunion with the Spain international at Stamford Bridge.

The west London club have a bit of an issue with Edouard Mendy right now so could very well need to sign a new goalkeeper.

The same outlet has claimed that Chelsea are struggling to reach an agreement with Mendy over a new contract, with the 30-year-old thought to have concerns about his first-team chances.

Considering that, it would not be a complete shock if the Blues made a move for Sanchez ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, especially with Potter now at the club.

If United can qualify for next season's Champions League ahead of Chelsea, though, then they will fancy their chances of beating their rivals to Sanchez's signature. And looking at the table now, that is definitely a possibility.

It appears, however, that the Brighton man is not going to come cheap. Will that stop United and Ten Hag? Only time will tell.
