Manchester City would be the “most obvious landing spot” in the Premier League for Lionel Messi, if he was to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract in the summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 35-year-old signed a two-year contract at the Parc des Princes following his departure from Barcelona in the summer of 2021.

It had looked like the four-time Champions League winner was set to join Manchester City back in the summer of 2020 before the 166-time Argentina international decided to stay at the Nou Camp.

But Jones believes that if Messi does leave the Ligue 1 giants at the end of his contract this summer, then a move to the Etihad Stadium is the obvious choice if the superstar decides on a Premier League move.

It could therefore be suggested that Messi would prove to be an invaluable signing for Manchester City, and a potential reunion with former Barcelona manager Guardiola could make this a realistic possibility for the Citizens.
