Christian Horner has assessed how strong he thinks the current Red Bull team is compared to previous years.

Red Bull swept all before them in 2022 with them winning both championships at a canter.

Some early reliability issues had them naturally worried about their chances this season but they roared back from those setbacks to produce a stunning performance this year, with Max Verstappen sealing his second world title and the team earning another Constructors' crown to go alongside those they won during Sebastian Vettel's zenith with the team.

They will absolutely go into 2023 as the team to beat and the favourites to retain both crowns, then, and Horner has suggested that the team as it is right now is perhaps in the best shape it has ever been, even compared to when they were on top of the pile with Vettel.

Speaking recently, Horner had this to say:

"The team, this is the strongest Red Bull has ever been.

"The strength in depth we have, technically and operationally throughout the business... everybody has gone the extra yard which you need to do to achieve the results we have against opposition that is world-class."

The opposition does not get much better than Mercedes and Ferrari, who have both provided a stern test to Red Bull at times in the recent past.

Merc, of course, were the dominant force up to the end of 2021, with them winning eight Constructors' championships in a row, whilst Ferrari produced a blisteringly quick car for 2022, though it was a little fragile at times.

The margin of victory Red Bull had this year was hugely impressive, then, and they'll be aiming for more dominance next season.
