Tottenham Hotspur will be at the "front" of the queue if Anthony Gordon becomes available for a switch, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Spurs have been a linked with a move for the winger since the summer, with Antonio Conte believed to be keen, so a potential deal to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is on the cards, depending on whether Everton are willing to sell him.

What is the latest news involving Gordon?

Football London report that Tottenham are still monitoring the availability of Gordon, although they will face competition for his signing as Chelsea are also believed to retain an interest, meaning a transfer battle could emerge between the two London clubs.

The report states that Gordon had a value of £50m in the summer window, which deterred Conte from making the deal happen, while it is also pointed out that a move in the January window is unlikely, although it cannot be taken off the table.

In his most recent outing, the 21-year-old may have attracted the interest of even more potential suitors, starring for the Toffees in a friendly match against Western Sydney Wanderers, scoring a hat-trick en-route to a 5-1 victory.

What has O'Rourke said about Gordon?

O'Rourke believes that Gordon will be increasingly likely to leave Everton as time progresses, if he does not sign a new contract, although his current deal does not end until 2025.

If a move does become a possibility, the journalist indicates that Tottenham will be one of the main teams interested in the starlet's services, telling GIVEMESPORT: "I think they've always had that interest in Anthony Gordon, that's not going to go away.

"Obviously, the longer he goes without signing a new contract at Everton, it's always going to leave the door open for a potential move away from Goodison Park, and I think if he does end up leaving Everton, Tottenham are going to be right at the front of the queue to try and sign Gordon."

Would Gordon be a good signing for Tottenham?

Hailed as a "huge player" for Everton by current manager Frank Lampard, the youngster has featured in 14 of the Toffees' 15 Premier League matches this season, highlighting his importance to the team.

It has been a difficult start for the Merseyside club this season, as they currently sit just one point above the relegation zone in 17th place, so it is perhaps hard to scrutinise Gordon's impact too much so far, but he has only returned three goals in league action and no assists.

Judging by his aforementioned exploits in a recent friendly, and his performance in a 3-0 victory against Crystal Palace earlier this season, the Englishman may be more suited to playing in teams that are more dominant, as indicated by a goal and a 7.3 SofaScore rating against the Eagles.

Consequently, he may offer more to the Tottenham attack, and could pose good competition for former teammate Richarlison in the starting lineup, however the £50m fee that was rumoured in the summer is too high, given his recent form.
