Alan Shearer lost his mind after Micah Richards included Gary Lineker in his greatest ever World Cup XI.

Lineker enjoyed decent success in football's most prestigious tournament.

The Englishman represented his country in two World Cups, scoring 10 times.

He scored six goals as England reached the quarter-finals in 1986.

Four years later, he found the back of the net four times as England were knocked out on penalties against Germany in the semi-finals.

His exploits in the tournament were very impressive to Richards.

Richards and Shearer met up with Lineker to discuss their greatest ever World Cup XI in the latest Match of the Day Top 10 podcast.

Richards included Lineker as a right-winger in his side, much to Shearer's astonishment. It made for a gold exchange and you can view it below...

"On the right... where did you play at Barcelona?" Richards said, turning to Lineker.

Lineker was a little surprised and replied: "You've not put me on the right wing?"

"Lineker's in!" Richards quickly responded.

That didn't go down very well at all with Shearer, who shouted a number of expletives.

"We might as well end this subject now. He's even put you on the right-hand side! Did you see him at Barcelona on the right-hand side?" Shearer said with disgust.

Lineker intervened: "Hang on a minute. I was a good winger. Honestly I was quick. Have you seen the European Cup Winners' Cup final?"

"This is not about the European Cup Winners' Cup final! This is about World Cups! The greatest ever! Shearer said.

He then pointed at Richards and added: "He thinks you're in charge of next year's podcast."

The trio then burst out laughing, and that laughter only intensified when Richards included Diego Maradona on the left-wing.

"Even Lineker's gone red! He's sweating, look! He's got to take his glasses off!" Shearer said.

Lineker, still in disbelief, then commented: "Are you taking the p***?"
