A furious football fan has blasted organisers of the 2022 World Cup after arriving in Qatar to find their £185-a-night accommodation was still being built.

The supporter in question took to TikTok to share a series of videos showing the sorry state of their unfinished cabins and the surrounding fan village.

The tournament - which marks the first-ever World Cup to take place in winter - is now five days old. However, it appears Qatar is still struggling to deal with the influx of fans from around the world.

Their account - named 'fanvillageqatar' - has currently shared 14 videos. Most detail the shabby condition of the cabins that many supporters have forked out thousands for across the duration of their stay in the Gulf state.

As they arrive at the fan village, they are met by accommodation that is very obviously unfinished. Materials yet to be installed in the cabins are seen strewn around the grounds, while a number of workers rush to try and complete various tasks inside.

The state of the cabins once access was granted was equally shocking. One clip - which has been viewed more than 1.3 million times - showed water all over the floor and doors of the unit, non-functioning appliances and a healthy helping of dirt and sawdust throughout.

Granted, for the relatively modest price tag of the accommodation (by the standards of Qatar) fans probably shouldn't have been expecting five-star luxury.

However, given that the country has had more than 12 years to prepare for the tournament, it's certainly not unreasonable to expect that the cabins would have been finished before the start of the action.

Another video shared by the fan shows a comparison between the front half and the back of the fan village.

The front (public-facing) half of the facility looks immaculate, whereas the unfinished units towards the back tell a very different story.

Others, it seems, have had a similarly poor experience at the fan village. The Daily Mail spoke to one Wales fan who condemned the quality of the cabins.

"There is no room to move or to store your luggage. A tiny table can just about hold a bowl of cornflakes," they raged.

Qatar 2022 will surely go down in history as the most controversial World Cup of all time. No matter how exciting the action on the pitch is, fan experiences like those above will do little to help the tournament's legacy.
