West Ham United star Declan Rice will be 'staying' at the London Stadium despite his decision to snub numerous contract offers, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The central midfielder was handed the captain's armband by boss David Moyes following Mark Noble's retirement at the end of last season, but he has been the subject of interest from numerous clubs.

What's the latest news involving Rice?

According to Football Insider, West Ham are expecting to sell Rice to a club competing in the Champions League next summer.

The report suggests Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are among the clubs keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, who had a £150million price tag slapped on him earlier this year.

It has emerged that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti also wanted to sign Rice before Aurelien Tchouameni completed a move to the Bernabeu.

The England international has turned down a number of contract offers from West Ham, including an eight-year proposal.

Rice's £60,000-per-week deal is due to expire in the summer of 2024, but the Hammers boast an option to extend the agreement by 12 months.

What has Paul Brown said about Rice?

Brown believes there would need to be a major U-turn for Rice to seal his West Ham exit in the coming months.

The journalist feels the east Londoners' skipper will remain on the club's books unless a lucrative bid which meets the Hammers' demands is tabled.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: "I think things would have to develop in quite a major way for Rice to leave.

"West Ham have made him at least three very good contract offers and he's told them that he is not interested in signing a new deal.

"But he is still tied to them for some time and until a club comes in with a mega bid for Declan Rice, he'll be staying at West Ham."

Could Rice put himself in the shop window during the World Cup?

Rice was named in England's squad for the World Cup and put in an impressive performance as the Three Lions made a winning start in Qatar.

Gareth Southgate's side registered a 6-2 victory over Iran, as Group B got up-and-running, and the West Ham man played the entirety of the contest.

Rice notched a match rating of 7.0, according to SofaScore, and achieved 95 per cent pass accuracy.

He then took his tally up to 35 caps when England went head-to-head with the United States on Friday and further eye-catching displays will result in rumours over his future refusing to go away.
