Kevin Magnussen has discussed the financial boost finishing P8 in the standings will provide Haas for 2023.

Haas pipped AlphaTauri to P8 in the standings in 2022, with them moving up two places from their 2021 finish, which saw them stone dead last and bottom of the table with no points.

Of course, they sacrificed 2021 with a view of having better performance in 2022 and that decision paid off, with them competitive enough to score points relatively regularly, with Magnussen in particular having a strong season after returning at the start of the year.

He'll be back for more alongside Nico Hulkenberg for 2023, with the team already stating that the aim will be to try and be more consistent point-scorers next year and more of a regular fixture in the midfield.

The P8 finish means they'll take home about $15-20 million more in prize money compared to 2021 and that will surely help with car development and investment, whilst Magnussen cited the recent deal with Moneygram to become the team's new title sponsor as another factor that should aid the team's bid for continued progression.

Speaking at the weekend, he said:

"[P8 is] a nice step to take forward from the last two years Haas has had, a nice place to build from and I'm looking forward to next year.

"There's lots to learn from for next year, and I'll have to work hard over the winter and prepare for next year as best as I can. We moved up a couple of places in the Constructors', which is a good amount of prize money to develop for the future.

"We've also a title sponsor in Moneygram coming in for next year which, hopefully, is also going to contribute to investing in performance."
