Dak Prescott has been slammed by analyst Skip Bayless for his play for the Dallas Cowboys against the New York Giants on Thanksgiving.

Dak Prescott has had something of an odd year for the Dallas Cowboys this year. He started off the year on the losing side as he and the Cowboys fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the opening weekend of the season and suffered an injury at the same time.

He was only out for a couple of weeks, so on the surface it didn’t look like he was going to lose his starting job, however the play of backup Cooper Rush kind of changed things, as he guided the Cowboys to four straight wins and even started talk of a possible controversy between him and Prescott.

After their first loss under Rush though, the change was made and Prescott was back under centre and he’s kept up the good work by guiding them to 7-3 and looking like they can make a lot of noise in the playoffs and possibly even go all the way to the Super Bowl.

Whilst he’s winning though, you wouldn’t be mistaking him for Joe Montana or Tom Brady, as heading into their game against the New York Giants on Thanksgiving, he was throwing just 226.4 yards per game, which ranks 22nd in the league and has thrown a touchdown on 5.3% of his passes, which ranks 10th in the league.

What also hasn’t helped are his interceptions, which he’s throwing on 2.6% of his throws, which also ranks 10th in the league, and he added to that number with his play on Thanksgiving, as he gifted the ball to the Giants in the first quarter.

Some online felt that the play wasn’t totally on Prescott, as Kayvon Thibodeaux appeared to jump offside on the play, meaning that Prescott should have had a ‘free play’, so he could afford to take a greater risk. However, FOX Sport analyst Skip Bayless didn’t buy any of it, as he slammed Prescott for the play, and that thinking about the free play wasn’t an excuse for him to use:

It certainly isn’t a throw that Prescott should be making, even if he did think that it was a free play, and as Bayless said it’s something that could cause them to miss out later in the season and cost them a chance at the Super Bowl.
