Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is preparing to make a 'monumentally big decision' over Hugo Lloris as Spurs' captain will not be willing to stay at Hotspur Way if a new first choice goalkeeper is signed, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Frenchman has been on the north Londoners' books since completing a £7.9million move from Lyon a decade ago, but it appears his current employers are looking at alternative options ahead of the January transfer window.

What's the latest news involving Lloris?

Lloris has failed to miss a single minute of action in the Premier League or Champions League this season, but it seems that Tottenham are looking to identify their future number one.

That is because, according to 90min, Spurs are continuing to evaluate potential long-term replacements for the 35-year-old and a number of shot-stoppers have worked their way onto Conte's radar.

The report suggests Everton's Jordan Pickford, Brentford star David Raya, Brighton & Hove Albion's Robert Sanchez and Diogo Costa, of Porto, are being tracked, while Juventus' Wojciech Szczesny and Edouard Mendy, of London rivals Chelsea, have been offered to the club.

The current campaign will reportedly be Lloris' last as Tottenham's first choice goalkeeper, with Leeds United's Illan Meslier an additional target.

Lloris is set to enter the final 18 months of his contract, which is worth £100,000-per-week, at the turn of the year.

What has Michael Bridge said about Lloris?

Bridge has serious doubts over whether Lloris will be open to remaining at Tottenham if Conte drafts in a goalkeeper who would leapfrog him to the top of the pecking order.

The Sky Sports reporter believes the former Nice man would prefer to return to his homeland than fall out of the starting line-up.

Bridge told GIVEMESPORT: "Is Hugo Lloris going to be prepared to sit on the bench next season? I would suggest not because he's still the France goalkeeper, so it's a monumentally big decision for this football club.

"I cannot see Lloris even going up against another goalkeeper. At this stage of his career, he might just say 'if you want Meslier or Jordan Pickford as your new goalie, I'll go back to France'. I just can't see him sitting on the bench."

How has Lloris performed at the World Cup?

Lloris was named in France's squad for the World Cup and, unsurprisingly, he has remained his country's first choice option between the sticks.

He travelled to Qatar having won the competition in Russia four years ago and helped Didier Deschamps' side get the group stage off to a winning start.

France sealed a 4-1 victory over Australia, but it was not a fixture in which Lloris was hugely tested.

The Tottenham man was not forced into any saves, punches or clearances, but conceding to Craig Goodwin resulted in him being handed a match rating of 6.3 ahead of facing Denmark on Saturday.
