Emma Raducanu has returned to the tennis court as she continues her recovery from injury, but with a noticeable difference to her playing style.

The 20-year-old was forced to pull out of the Transylvania Open and Billie Jean King Cup Finals after injuring her right wrist at the end of her first full season on the WTA Tour.

She has been plagued by fitness issues all year, and is now working with physical conditioning specialist Jez Green to put an end to these woes.

Raducanu appeared to be delighted as she made a return to the practice court, sharing a clip of her session on Instagram with the caption: ““tnnsssss!!!!”

But eagle-eyed fans noticed that she was hitting with her left hand, despite being right handed.

Why was Emma Raducanu playing tennis with her left hand?

Raducanu’s decision to practise with her left hand suggests she has not fully recovered from the injury to her right wrist.

The British star is playing an exhibition match against Ons Jabeur in Abu Dhabi next month, however, and clearly wants to get moving as soon as possible.

Playing with her left hand allows Raducanu to practise her footwork and movement on court.

It must be said, the young talent still looks to be a decent tennis player with just her weak hand.

Who is Emma Raducanu’s fitness coach Jez Green?

Raducanu started working with Green, who is most known for his success with Andy Murray, in October.

The fitness guru focuses on factors beyond just building up strength and fitness, concentrating on how an athlete moves and building a long-term plan which enables players to get into the best position to hit the ball.

Karolína Plíšková, who reached the Wimbledon final last year, described a training block with Green as “life-changing”.

Murray had Green in his team for seven years, during which time the British star won the US Open and Wimbledon, as well as Olympic gold at London 2012.

Raducanu will be hoping her new fitness coach reignites her form for the upcoming season, with the world number 75 struggling to string together a run of victories in recent months.

She has looked a shadow of the player who shocked the world by winning the 2021 US Open, becoming the first qualifier, male or female, to earn a Grand Slam title.
