Everton would be "willing" to allow both Yerry Mina and Abdoulaye Doucoure to leave if a bid comes in for either player in January, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The duo have been peripheral figures at Goodison this season, owing to both players having injury troubles, and the Toffees' manager Frank Lampard will allow them to leave while the club can still get a fee, with both players' contracts expiring at the end of the season - although, there is an option for an extra year on Doucoure's £120k-a-week deal.

What is the latest news involving Mina and Doucoure?

Having suffered a hamstring injury during Everton's clash with Celtic in the Sydney Cup, injury expert Ben Dinnery recently indicated that Mina is set to be on the treatment table for at least a few weeks, in the latest blow to the centre-back, who has missed the majority of the season with an ankle injury.

It is a gutting blow for the Colombian, who was eyeing an immediate return to action after the Qatar World Cup, but his progress has now been hampered, and he may not be up to speed for the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day.

Doucoure also suffered a knock in the recent friendly, however the Liverpool Echo's Everton correspondent, Joe Thomas, claims that the extent of the injury is currently unknown, adding to his injury woes this term, having missed nine games with a hamstring issue.

What has Brown said about Mina and Doucoure?

Brown has expressed doubt about whether both players will continue at Everton following the transfer window, and believes that the recent injuries will not pose any real problems for Lampard, telling GIVEMESPORT: "I actually wonder about the futures of both Yerry Mina and Doucoure, because of their contract situation I think Everton will be willing to accept a bid for either, so I don't think injuries to those two are a huge issue, really, for the club."

Should Everton keep hold of either player?

Given the repeated injuries that the pair have suffered this season, it is hard to make a case to keep them at Goodison, especially considering the other options available.

For large parts of the season, Doucoure has been kept out of the team by Idrissa Gana Gueye, who blitzes him in terms of defensive contributions, averaging 1.92 interceptions per 90 over the past year, compared to 0.85 from the Mali international.

While the Toffees currently sit 17th in the Premier League standings, other than very recently they have looked competent defensively, shipping 17 goals in total, the joint-lowest amount of any team in the bottom half.

As such, they can afford to part with £120k-a-week earner Mina, particularly given his disappointing injury record, and freeing up that amount of money from the wage bill would allow them to bring in a better option.
