AJ Styles beat former Universal Champion Finn Balor tonight at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames.

In beating his former stablemate, Styles ended a rather unfortunate losing streak in singles matches on pay-per-view.

The match was one that many WWE fans felt as if Styles had to win, and fortunately for them, they got their wish.

What happened at Survivor Series: WarGames

As noted, AJ Styles beat Finn Balor tonight at Survivor Series: WarGames, hitting the Irishman with a Phenomenal Forearm to close things off.

The match was significant for a few reasons, and not just because of the ongoing feud between Styles' faction The OC, and Balor's Judgement Day group.

The match, and his victory, marks the first time that AJ Styles has won a WWE pay-per-view since match since October 2019, when he beat Humberto Carrillo at Crown Jewel.

Styles, one of the best wrestlers on the active WWE roster right now, will be pretty happy to have ended his unfortunate streak and to have picked up a big win in the final pay-per-view event of 2022.

What else has happened at Survivor Series: WarGames

AJ v Finn was the second match at Survivor Series, with the women's WarGames match opening up the show tonight, as many expected it would.

The match was won by Bianca Belair's team, with Becky Lynch picking up the win for her side in her first match since separating her shoulder at SummerSlam in July.

Elsewhere on the show, Ronda Rousey beat Shotzi to retain her SmackDown Women's Championship. The win was pretty convincing, but the former UFC star did have some help from new ally Shayna Baszler.

There was also a title change in Boston, with Austin Theory reclaiming the United States Championship from Seth Rollins in a three-way match that also featured Bobby Lashley.

The men's WarGames match is set to main event the show tonight, with The Bloodline, led by Roman Reigns, going up against the team of Kevin Owens, Sheamus, Butch, Ridge Holland and Drew McIntyre.
