Paddy Pimblett is quickly establishing himself as one of the rising stars of the UFC, particularly to UK audiences.

He joined Dana White's promotion from Cage Warriors with a 16-3 record and has registered three stoppage wins from three since his introduction to the company in September 2021.

He has an interesting fighting style combining solid striking, along with an excellent ground game.

What sets Paddy apart from his rivals, though, is his personality and charisma, which are all over him from his cage walks to his soundbite laden post-fight interviews.

His work doesn’t end once he leaves the cage either as Paddy understands the importance of social media and creating a presence for his fans.

He has created this persona of being a man of the people. His cheeky chappy personality, broad grin and easy manner all feed into that. Whilst his legendary junk food eating and piling on the pounds, before cutting weight drastically to come into his fights, add to his everyman image.

He has been showing the common man’s touch once again with a video uploaded online, that has quickly gone viral with mega numbers on Twitter, showing him on a woman’s video doorbell apologising for his dog having done his business on her front doorstep.

She isn’t home, but instantly recognises Paddy when the video comes through to her phone.

He described the problem in true Paddy fashion: "Alright love, it’s just that my dog has done a sloppy s*** outside, I was just wondering if you’ve got some water, I don’t want to leave it outside your front path."

The fight fan tells her hero not to worry, insisting: “I’m five minutes away from home, don’t worry I’ll clean it.”

Paddy is grateful for her understanding, replying: “Ta, thank you much once again, I’m sorry about that, I hate doing stuff like that, that’s why I knocked on.”

It is a funny exchange and is another example of the down to earth nature of the scouse fighter. In a world where the fighters can seem detached from the real world, particularly when their purses increase, Paddy remains humble and a man of the people.

Paddy was initially on a base contract of barely £10,000 a fight, but that has now increased drastically after the explosive start to his UFC career. Whether he can keep that common touch while bringing in the big money is yet to be seen, but for now, Paddy the Baddy is his true authentic self, sloppy s***’s and all.
