Kevin Owens is set to face Roman Reigns at the WWE Royal Rumble next year, a new report has claimed.

In what will be the first pay-per-view event of 2023, Reigns is reportedly set defend his Undisputed WWE Universal title against Owens.

The match will be the next step in WWE's continued story featuring The Bloodline, Owens, and Sami Zayn.

Who will Roman Reigns face at the Royal Rumble next year?

The Royal Rumble, which is slated to take place on January 28 next year, Owens, who was described as "perfect" lately, will apparently challenge for WWE's top prize.

WrestlingNews.co reports that KO is set to challenge Reigns for his Undisputed titles at the big show in January 2023, at least according to current plans.

WrestlingNews.co is told by WWE sources that the current plan for Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble is for him to defend the WWE Universal Championship against Kevin Owens

The report explains that, at one stage, the plan was for Sheamus to face Reigns at the big show in January, but that has now changed, with Owens being given the nod.

At one point, Sheamus was penciled in for that spot but we're told that it's KO vs. Reigns

The match for Reigns against Owens, could well end up being Reigns' next televised match, with his part-time schedule meaning he wrestles far less frequently nowadays.

Of course, as well as Reigns v Owens, the Royal Rumble next year will also feature the men's and women's rumble matches, as well as a plethora of other matches that have yet to be announced as of yet.

At the time of writing, there's no more information on the other matches that fans can expect to see at the Royal Rumble, WWE's next pay-per-view event, but those should become clear over the coming weeks.
