The above moment is just one of many that highlighted just how good Musiala was on a night when Germany were desperate need of a spark of inspiration.

Thankfully, for their sake, Musiala showed experience beyond his years to ensure the dream remains alive.

Musiala, who grew up in England playing for Chelsea and even represented the England U21 side, switched allegiances to his country of birth in early 2021 and hasn't looked back since.

He made his full international debut for Germany in March of that year and has since gone on to score once in 19 appearances for the 2014 world champions.

In fact, so good has Musiala been that he was even likened to Lionel Messi by Lothar Mathaus after setting up two goals agains Schalke in November.

"That's like Messi. That's Hollywood. He must never leave Bayern," he said. "He always has to play. His value is a quarter of a billion."
