WWE co-chief executive Stephanie McMahon once brutally insulted CM Punk's short-lived UFC career with hilarious jab.

On December 27, 2016, the WWE travelled to Chicago, where one thing's for sure, chants for the hometown hero Punk are heard across the city.

Stephanie was out to open the show and it didn't take long for the chants to begin, the rowdy Chicago crowd screaming his name.

But on this occasion, McMahon shot back at the crowd whose relentlessness had finally caused her to fight back.

"So if you guys could keep that up for about two minutes and 15 seconds, you'd last one second longer than Punk did."

How did CM Punk get on in UFC?

We all know that Punk's UFC career didn't get off to the best start as he fought youngster Mickey Gall and he was gone in the first round, suffering an extremely bruised face as a thank you.

It was a highly-anticipated event that lots of fans were waiting for, and it was not short on drama that's for sure.

At the time, it left many people speculating that he would dash back to professional wrestling after retiring in 2014, putting his embarrassing UFC career behind him.

But he didn't, choosing to fight one more match two years later against Mike Jackson, where this time he lasted three rounds, but still lost via unanimous decision (later overturned to no contest).

That was it for the wrestler's UFC career, but he certainly had a decorated WWE career.

Since then, Punk has appeared as an analyst on WWE backstage.

He has also began an acting career, his first role came in the animated film The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age Smackdown in 2017 - and has since received high praise for his role in the 2019 horror film Girl On The Third Floor.

After much speculation, he joined AEW in 2021 and has since become a two-time AEW World Champion.
