Aaron Rodgers has been speaking about the injury that he picked up as the Green Bay Packers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.

In a year that just keeps getting worse for the Green Bay Packers, they were dealt a disastrous double-blow last night as not only did they lose to the Philadelphia Eagles, but they also lost back-to-back league MVP Aaron Rodgers along the way as he suffered an injury to his oblique and left during the third quarter.

That would make it the second injury that Rodgers has had to deal with this season, as he has also been struggling with a thumb injury that he picked up against the New York Giants in London, with reports suggesting that the injury might have required surgery, but Rodgers has elected to fight through the pain, although that perhaps points to some of the reason why he and the Packers have struggled this season as they sit at 4-8.

Something has clearly been off with Rodgers all season, as he currently sits 22nd in the league in yards per game, joint 22nd in yards per attempt, and has thrown 9 interceptions so far this season, which is the most he’s thrown since the 11 he threw all the way back in 2010.

Despite the injury and the poor performances though, Rodgers doesn’t appear as if he’s going to be giving up the fight just yet. Speaking to reporters after the game (via NFL.com), the 38-year-old made it pretty clear when it came to what his intentions were for between now and the end of the season as he stated "As long as we're mathematically alive, I'd like to be out there”.

This all comes amid talk that Rodgers might find himself on the sidelines pretty soon, with some members of the media discussing whether or not it might be good for the Packers to bench him and allow 2020 1st round pick Jordan Love to play instead to see what he can do in an extended stretch.

For what it’s worth, Love did come in to relieve Rodgers during the loss in Philadelphia, and made quite the impression with a 63-yard touchdown within minutes of coming onto the field.

Going by Rodgers’ comments, it seems as if he knows that his time, for this season at least, is coming to an end, but that he won’t be giving up until the team are officially eliminated from playoff contention, at which point he’ll step aside.

You just have to wonder though just how long that is going to be, and whether or not, with each passing week, Love’s development is getting impacted more and more as a result.
