Everton want to 'stick with' Frank Lampard as manager for 'as long as they can' according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Toffees are currently 17th in the Premier League standings, just one point clear of the relegation zone, but the board have no plans to replace the 44-year-old in the dugout as of yet, instead wanting to wait to see if form improves.

Everton Manager News - Frank Lampard

While the domestic season has been on hold for the Qatar World Cup, Lampard has used the opportunity to take his side to Australia, winning the Sydney Cup following a victory against Celtic on penalties, after the game finished 0-0 in normal time.

Following that, the Toffees took on Western Sydney Wanderers and emerged 5-1 winners after a dominant display, with promising youngster Anthony Gordon scoring a hat-trick, with Neal Maupay and Thomas Cannon also getting on the scoresheet.

Despite the disappointing start to the season, the former Chelsea midfielder has taken some positives from his side's performances, recently telling the Liverpool Echo: "We are much more solid defensively than we were last year, and are much more resilient."

With that in mind, the Everton boss recently told the same publication that he is prioritising signings in attacking areas in the January transfer window.

What has Jones said about Lampard?

Jones claims that Everton want to stick by their manager for the foreseeable future, but indicates that January results could be crucial in deciding whether he continues in his role, telling GIVEMESPORT: "For now I'm told that Everton want to stick with Frank Lampard and they're going to try and persist with him for as long as they can.

"I guess early January results will tell us how long that's going to be feasible and whether they can see out the whole season with him, and what the actual hopes can be for Lampard as manager."

Lampard's stats as Everton manager

After his appointment as Everton manager in January 2022, the man who netted 211 professional goals for Chelsea, as per Transfermarkt, did just enough to maintain the Merseyside club's Premier League status and steer them clear of relegation.

However, owing to poor form during the 2022/23 campaign, Transfermarkt stats indicate that the points-per-game acquired by the Englishman has now fallen below his predecessor's, averaging 1.13, as opposed to a figure of 1.14 mustered up by Rafael Benitez.

Given that the Spaniard was sacked by the club for his poor performances, Lampard needs to start improving soon to avoid the same fate, and on paper he could not ask for a better fixture when the Premier League resumes, taking on bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison on Boxing Day.

Now that the Everton hierarchy have stood by their manager, they should give him at least until after the Brighton & Hove Albion game on January 3rd to show signs of improvement, but they may be forced into a change at some point if there is not an uptick in results in the near future.
