Ghana secured a vital win in the race for qualification from Group H in the World Cup this afternoon, battling past South Korea in a real humdinger of a clash on what has already been a goal filled day.

The final day of 10am kick-offs for those in the UK have been treated to a blockbuster day so far, although the results have had major implications on the teams as we get ready for the final round of group fixtures in Qatar.

South Korea will need a minor miracle to qualify now, needing to beat Portugal in their last game and hope other results are kind to them in order to advance, but the heartbreaking nature of the defeat this afternoon saw Son Heung-min in tears at full time.

South Korea 2-3 Ghana

It was a nightmare start for the South Koreans, seeing Mohammed Salisu and Mohammed Kudus hit the back of the net before the break, giving the African nation a comfortable lead.

Although that was quickly wiped out in the second period, with the South Korean team proving no lead is safe in football as Cho Gue-Sung fired in a quick fire brace with goals just three minutes apart to level the scores.

However, Kudus was on hand just seven minutes later to complete the scoring for the clash and to secure the three points for his nation who now have a healthy standing in the group for their final outing.

Video: Son Heung-min in tears whilst Ghanaian coach asks for selfie

No, your eyes have not deceived you, one of the coaches from Ghana’s dugout tried to get a selfie with the star of the South Korean side, despite it being an emotionally charged moment and clearly not the right time to do so.

You could understand it after the match in the changing rooms before everyone leaves for the team hotel, but to do it on the pitch immediately after such a crushing defeat is absolutely brutal and unfathomable.

Footballers are often reasonable when it comes to selfie requests from opposing teams, especially in this case when it’s a major star who many of the coaches may never interact with again, but the timing has to be right, it’s simply unfair on Son to expect him to do that, with the forward turning away from the camera, rightly so. There’s a time and a place, come on now!
