Bray Wyatt is expected to wrestle his first match since returning to WWE at the Royal Rumble next year.

The show will likely feature not only Bray's first match since rejoining WWE in October, but also a brand new match type.

Reports state that WWE is "seriously considering" putting on the first-ever "Pitch Black" match at the show in January 2023.

What is WWE planning for Bray Wyatt?

Reports have claimed that the card for the Royal Rumble, which is still over two months away, has now been fully mapped out by Triple H and the rest of WWE's creative team.

WrestlingNews.co is reporting that one of the matches on the card is set to be a 'Pitch Black' match, or at least that's an idea that's being considered internally within WWE right now.

The entire card is mapped out for the Rumble event. Last week, we were told about a pitch that was made for a "Pitch Black" match and it was being seriously considered for the show.

While the rules and details for the match weren't clear, the report notes that sources believed it was linked to Bray Wyatt, and the former Universal Champion's new gimmick since returning to WWE.

The source did not have any more details on the structure/rules of the match but one source in the company believes that the match is for Bray Wyatt.

With Bray unlikely to wrestle on TV, it's believed that this 'Pitch Black' match, if it ends up coming to fruition, will be his first match since coming back to WWE at the beginning of October.

GiveMeSport will, of course, keep you updated with all the latest news surrounding WWE's plans for the Royal Rumble, particularly as they pertain to Wyatt.

Latest news on Bray Wyatt

Wyatt, who has been described by 'captivating' by WWE fans, has been feuding with former NXT star LA Knight over the last few weeks on SmackDown.

When he came back to WWE last month, after being fired by July 2021, almost no WWE fans speculated that Bray's first feud would be against the former Max Dupri, but that's what ended up happening.

Again, while just speculation at this stage, the way WWE TV is telling the story between Knight and Bray right now means that they'd likely be opponents in the 'Pitch Black' match at the Royal Rumble.

As well as the men's and women's rumble matches, the show is also slated to see Kevin Owens challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal title, at least according to reports.
