Cristiano Ronaldo produced a crazy pass with his shoulder during Portugal's World Cup clash with Uruguay on Monday evening.

Ronaldo played a starring role in Portugal's opening game of the 2022 World Cup.

The 37-year-old broke the deadlock for his side in their narrow 3-2 victory over Ghana.

He was named in the starting lineup once again for their second group game against Uruguay on Monday evening.

Portugal knew a victory over the South American side would see them qualify for the last 16.

And Ronaldo was in the mood from the outset.

A ball was launched towards Ronaldo inside the box and he teed up William Carvalho with a quite sensational shoulder pass.

His shoulder pass travelled some 15 yards and perfectly into the path of Carvalho, but the midfielder could not get his strike on target.

There aren't many players in world football that would be able to pull off such an outrageous pass let alone attempt it, that's for sure.

If only Carvalho could have rifled his effort into the back of the net.

It would have certainly gone down as one of the greatest assists in World Cup history had Carvalho scored.

Per BBC Sport, Ronaldo's pass to Carvalho was one of three chances Ronaldo created in the first half, his most in a World Cup match since 2010.

There was little goalmouth action in the first half as the game went into half-time all-square.

The best chance of the first half fell to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Uruguay star picked up the ball in his own half and waltzed through Portugal's defence with some sensational footwork.

However, Bentancur could not find a way past Diogo Costa, who came to his side's rescue with a fine save.
