Leeds United will have Torino's Sasa Lukic on their 'radar' for a transfer switch, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Jesse Marsch is aiming to bolster the Whites' midfield in the January transfer window and the Serbian could fit the bill upon his return from international duty at the World Cup.

Leeds Transfer News - Sasa Lukic

According to Italian source Torino Granata, Leeds are set to battle it out with fellow Premier League side Everton for Sasic's signature, but any deal will not be concluded until he has had time to evaluate after the World Cup.

The same source highlights Serie A side Roma as a potential destination, but their interest is not said to be too strong at the moment, although CalcioMercato report that the Giallorossi are considering a move, but do not have the £13m that his current club would demand to let him leave.

Tuttosport also indicate that the 26-year-old is considering swapping agents to increase his chances of securing a good move away from Torino, before his contract expires at the end of June 2024, as per Transfermarkt.

What has Jones said about Lukic?

Jones believes that Leeds could secure a move for the Serbian and that he is already on their radar, telling GIVEMESPORT: "There are little changes going on at Leeds at the moment and it wouldn't surprise me if they are suddenly pulled towards someone particularly like Lukic for their midfield.

"I think that is probably one that would be on their radar right now."

Will Marsch be impressed by Lukic at the World Cup?

The 34-time international has started both of his side's group games at the World Cup so far, in which they lost 2-0 against Brazil in the opener and threw away a 3-1 lead against Cameroon to end up drawing 3-3.

Although they could not have asked for a much more difficult first game, Lukic was unimpressive, acquiring the joint-second lowest match rating on his team, with a 6.4, as per SofaScore, although one upside to his game was a pass completion of 93%, the best figure of any Serbia starter.

Once lauded as "outstanding" for his ability in protecting the defence by journalist Josh Bunting, the midfielder struggled against Cameroon, and was one of just two players on the pitch to make an error leading to an attempt by the opposition, as per WhoScored.

However, it is very difficult to judge a player based on two games alone, and Marsch should base the signing more on his performances in the Serie A, in which according to SofaScore he is Torino's third-best performer.
