Newcastle United are 'willing to consider' making a move which would see Chelsea star Christian Pulisic head to St James' Park, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Having spent more than £100million during the summer, as per Transfermarkt, Magpies head coach Eddie Howe will be handed another opportunity to splash the cash when the January window opens for business.

Newcastle transfer news - Christian Pulisic

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are monitoring Pulisic's contract situation after initially making an enquiry in August, but they are facing competition from Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Premier League trio are not the only sides showing an interest in the American as Spanish sources have revealed Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus are also looking to conclude a deal.

MailOnline have suggested Chelsea are unwilling to entertain loan proposals, but Pulisic is still expected to make a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge in January.

The 24-year-old is set to enter the final 18 months of his Chelsea contract, which is worth £150,000-per-week according to Spotrac, at the turn of the year.

Pulisic was among four Blues stars Newcastle were interested in signing during the summer transfer window, as per the Telegraph.

What has Dean Jones said about Pulisic?

Jones believes Newcastle are mulling over whether to reignite their interest in Pulisic by opening negotiations with Chelsea.

The journalist believes the winger fits in with what Howe is trying to build on Tyneside.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "He is still someone that they'd be willing to consider. I think he does fit with where they're headed in terms of recruitment.

"He wouldn't be considered as a superstar coming in and that's important. I think he would be a good fit for the style of play too."

How much would Pulisic cost?

According to BBC Sport, Chelsea spent £58million when they lured Pulisic to Stamford Bridge from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

But it is unlikely that Newcastle would have to surpass that figure in order to strike a deal as he has only registered 26 goals and 21 assists in 133 appearances for the west Londoners, as per Transfermarkt.

However, Newcastle would have to offer the 56-cap United States international a lucrative salary if they want to tempt him to St James' Park.

If the Magpies were to match his current £150,000-per-week pay package, he would surpass Kieran Trippier as the club's top earner, according to Spotrac.
