Tottenham Hotspur will 'push the boat out financially' to ensure that Harry Kane remains at the club, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The striker's current contract expires in 2024, as per Transfermarkt, and the club are eager to extend his stay, but the journalist indicates that any potential deal will depend on what Kane's goals are in the coming years.

Tottenham contract news - Harry Kane

According to Football Insider, it would take an "extraordinary" offer for the England international to be tempted to remain a Spurs player beyond his current contract, although any talks have been put on hold until he returns from the World Cup.

The same source states that some of his current international teammates are on far higher wages than the captain, despite not being deemed as high quality players, while it is also indicated that he may only stay if Antonio Conte also pens a new deal beyond the end of the season.

The Spurs hierarchy will be keen to tie their prized asset down to a new deal amid interest from elsewhere, with Sport reporting that Real Madrid have placed him at the top of a seven-man transfer shortlist.

What has Jones said about Kane?

While ENIC will be hoping to use a lucrative wage as a bargaining chip to keep hold of the finisher who has 261 goals in a Tottenham shirt, as per Transfermarkt, Jones claims that money may not be important to him at this stage, with his career ambitions deemed of higher value.

In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: "Obviously they'll push the boat out financially to try and keep him, but I do wonder if it's even about money at Kane for this point, surely it's about now what he wants from the next couple of years of his career, which is going to be so important."

What are Harry Kane's wages?

According to Spotrac, Kane earns a weekly salary of £200,000, making him the highest earner at Spurs, just above Son Heung-min, who rakes in £192,000.

The 29-year-old is currently in Qatar competing with England at the World Cup, in which he is yet to register a goal in two appearances, although he did weigh in with two assists in the opener against Iran, and received a solid 7.9 SofaScore rating.

Against the USA, however, the talisman failed to make his mark on the game, only having two attempts on goal in the match, neither of which were on target, as per WhoScored.

At club level, Kane's form in front of goal this season has been very encouraging, netting 12 times in 15 Premier League appearances, as per Transfermarkt, and the Spurs board should do everything they can to keep him at the club.
