Manchester United are serious about signings and building a new team under Erik ten Hag, says transfer reporter Dean Jones.

The Red Devils were busy in the last window, bringing in the likes of Antony and Casemiro, but it does not look like Ten Hag is going to stop there.

Man United transfer news

United have been linked with a whole host of players recently, including PSV Eindhoven's Cody Gakpo.

In fact, according to journalist Pedro Almeida, the Manchester club are set to sign the 23-year-old in the January transfer window.

As well as Gakpo, there has also been talk of United bringing in a natural centre-forward, with Victor Osimhen one No.9 currently thought to be on their radar.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport recently claimed that the Red Devils have made the Nigerian one of their top priorities but are reluctant to spend crazy money on him.

What has Dean Jones said about Man United and Ten Hag?

Jones thinks United, who remain under the Glazers' ownership for now, mean business and are serious about building Ten Hag a new team.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "I think it's clear that Man United are serious about their signings at the moment, serious about building a new team under Ten Hag. So it's all about who he identifies as being the focal point of the team."

What needs to be Man United's priority in the next two transfer windows?

Whether it is in January or next summer, United have to sign a new centre-forward.

Osimhen looks ideal, as he has proven in Serie A that he can find the back of the net. This season, for example, the 23-year-old has scored nine goals in 11 appearances (via Transfermarkt).

There is no guarantee, of course, that his form will translate over to England, while you would expect Napoli to demand a lot of money for their talisman.

Whatever the case, be it Osimhen or someone else, the Red Devils could do with the arrival of a new No.9, especially after Cristiano Ronaldo's departure.

And if they can get one in January, then even better. It is tight at the top of the table, with the likes of United, Liverpool and Tottenham all battling it out for a Champions League spot. Considering that, Ten Hag may need to strengthen his squad to improve his side's chances of finishing in the top four.
