An extremely convincing Neymar impersonator who tricked a US TV station into believing he was the real deal has been at it again during the World Cup.

This time, the doppelganger was picked up by cameras in the crowd at Brazil's 1-0 Group G victory over Switzerland on Monday.

Fans flocked around the lookalike as he watched the action at the 974 Stadium. He even managed to hoodwink members of matchday security as he was escorted around the venue.

Of course, while those fans were delighted with their selfies, the real Neymar was actually watching the match from his hotel room bed.

The 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward is currently battling to save his 2022 World Cup dream after injuring his ankle in Brazil's opening match against Serbia.

Neymar clearly realised the extent of the issue straightaway as he was visibly in tears on the Selecao bench after the incident.

So impressive is Neymar's impersonator, though, that he was able to briefly dupe Fox Sports into briefly declaring that they had seen the star himself 'walking around Doha' following his injury.

Naturally, they hadn't - and were forced to admit on social media:' We got got. Neymar has a very convincing doppelganger'!'

He is indeed a decent fake as he was able to convince stadium security to allow him access to the pitch before the match against Switzerland.

In footage that has now been viewed almost 6 million times on TikTok, Qatari officials clearly don't realise that they are being scammed as the impersonator is permitted to roam around freely, shaking hands with star-struck onlookers around the perimeter of the playing surface.

Aside from the absence of a heavily-swollen ankle, this guy looks scarily similar to the Brazilian superstar - and he's taking full advantage of it!

Neymar himself, meanwhile. isn't having the World Cup experience he would he hoped for, to say the least!

Prior to Monday's match, he posted an image to his Instagram story of his foot propped up on a bed in a compression boot.

With a television in the background showing his teammates singing the national anthem, Neymar wrote, 'Boraaaa,' which translates from Portuguese as 'Let's go!'

While he won't play any part in Brazil's final group game against Cameroon, Neymar will be desperate to feature for his country later in the tournament should he be fit enough.
