England can kick their feet up for a few days having safely progressed to the second round of the 2022 World Cup.Truth be told, from the moment that the Three Lions made the breakthrough against Iran in the opening game, there was a quiet feeling that they would likely take command of Group B.Eventually pulling away to win 6-2 and then recovering from a 0-0 draw with the United States of America by cruising past Wales 3-0, Gareth Southgate's men wrapped up first place in the group and set up an encounter with Senegal on Sunday.Facing the champions of Africa will be no easy task for the Euro 2020 finalists, but they'll nevertheless be expected to win fairly comfortably if they have any ambitions of going deep into the tournament.Marry that to the hard yards that the squad has already put in to get this far and you can certainly say that the England players have deserved their down time out in Qatar. It just so happens that some of Southgate's troops are enjoying things more than others with Luke Shaw, in particular, not always living the life of luxury.Check out our World Cup hubGiveMeSport World Cup 2022 promo image featuring Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Jr, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and Lionel Messi

What happened to Luke Shaw in Qatar?

We say that because amusing footage of the moment that the Manchester United left-back was defecated upon by a bird has started doing the rounds on social media.

As confirmed by The Sun, footage captured by Mason Mount documented the moment that Shaw bemoaned the fact that the local wildlife had used his shoulder as a toilet.

The camera even captured the winged culprits looking down from a branch, while Jack Grealish could hardly hide his amusement at the whole situation by continuing to laugh to his heart's content.

All in all, it made for an amusing little insight into life in England's World Cup camp and one that further serves to reiterate just how great the team spirit really is in Southgate's squad - check it out down below:

What is England's route to the World Cup final?

The Three Lions will continue their World Cup journey with the aforementioned round of 16 clash against Senegal on Sunday December 3 at the Al Bayt Stadium.

If they are successful, then they'll play the winner of France vs Poland in a quarter-final encounter that would take place on Saturday December 10 at the very same venue.

Then, if England manage to navigate that particular clash, fans will be able to tuck into their semi-final match on Wednesday December 14 at - you guessed it - the Al Bayt Stadium.
