Manchester United target Kylian Mbappe's Paris Saint-Germain future is likely to be sorted next summer after gaining interest from Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Erik ten Hag, who took over as the Red Devils' boss during the summer, has set his sights on landing the French superstar.

Man United transfer news - Kylian Mbappe

According to the Mirror, Mbappe has emerged as a shock target for Manchester United and they are aiming to steal a march on his other suitors by attempting to reach an agreement with PSG when the transfer window reopens in January.

The report suggests the Red Devils are able to pay upwards of £150million for the 62-cap France international, while they could also put a contract worth £500,000-per-week on the table.

Ten Hag is on the hunt for attacking reinforcements after Manchester United confirmed they had terminated Cristiano Ronaldo's deal by mutual agreement last month.

Mbappe only penned a new three-year contract with PSG in May, as per Sky Sports, but there have been doubts over his Parc des Princes future in recent weeks.

French football expert Julien Laurens previously told BBC Sport that the forward wants to move onto pastures new during the early stages of 2023 after being left betrayed by his current employers.

What has Dharmesh Sheth said about Mbappe?

Sheth believes Manchester United have a better chance of tempting PSG into selling Mbappe by heading to the negotiating table next summer rather than in January.

The Sky Sports reporter feels the Ligue 1 giants will be getting nervous over their chances of keeping their prised asset on board beyond the end of the season.

When asked when Manchester United could potentially be able to strike a deal, Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: "I think next summer. It's really crazy to think because when someone signs a new contract, you think you've got a lot of breathing space. But a lot of these contracts are normally four or five years so, one year into that contract, the club aren't thinking about a renewal.

"But when Kylian Mbappe signed this contract last summer, it was only a three-year contract, so you immediately pointed towards next summer and thought he's only going to have two years left then. Are we going to go through this circus again?

"Once you get to two years left on your contract, clubs start getting a little bit nervous about whether they can tie a player down or not.

"It's going to be interesting to see. I think probably next summer rather than January with regard to Mbappe."

How has Mbappe been performing at the World Cup?

Mbappe was included in the France squad for the World Cup and there is no doubt that he has made a lasting impression in Qatar.

As per Sofascore, the 23-year-old averaged a goal every 69 minutes during the group stage, having netted against Australia and grabbed a brace during the victory over Denmark.

Mbappe was handed an 8.6 match rating by WhoScored in the latter clash, with no other player on the pitch securing a better grading.

He followed it up with a brace against Poland but his World Cup exploits should not come as a surprise as he went into the competition having already found the back of the net 19 times and racked up an additional five assists in 20 PSG appearances this season, according to Transfermarkt.
