Unfortunately for England fans, more major tournament heartbreak is anticipated for their national team.

While Southgate’s side are expected to defeat Senegal on Sunday, they aren’t expected to get past reigning champions France in the quarter-finals.

France are then expected to meet Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the semi-finals.

And it’s Ronaldo and co. who are tipped to reach the 2022 World Cup final.

On the opposite side of the draw, Lionel Messi’s Argentina are expected to beat Australia and the Netherlands en route to the semi-finals.

However, they will then come up short against Brazil, who reach the last four thanks to victories over Uruguay and Spain.

As for the eventual winners, the stats show that pre-tournament favourites Brazil are likely to lift football’s most famous trophy for the first time in 20 years.

If this happens, Brazil will become world champions for a record-breaking sixth time.
