Recent rumours and reports have suggested that William Regal may be on his way back to WWE and some fans have suggested Triple H dropped a hint on this himself. While the length of Regal’s contract with AEW has been disputed, there is little doubt that The Game would certainly welcome the “Gentleman Villain” back into the WWE fold with open arms. The two men share an “incredibly close” relationship according to the Englishman.A recent tweet from the WWE Head of Creative prior to Survivor Series suggested that the stars could be aligning for a return.

Was Triple H's tweet a hint or just a nod to Regal's WarGames history

Prior to Survivor Series WarGames, The Game tweeted that “Tonight just wouldn’t be the same without…” and a video of Regal bellowing his iconic-WarGames shout that became synonymous with NXT’s iteration of the famous match.

Take a look at the tweet shared by @WilliamRBR and decide if you agree with him or not that more is going than meets the eye.

AEW ongoings have also suggested a return could be near

To add further intrigue and spice to proceedings, Regal was seemingly written off TV on Wednesday night’s edition of Dynamite. His presumed new protégé and AEW Champion MJF turned on him, violently bashing him in the back of the head with his own brass knuckles.

Regal left the arena on a stretcher and it was played up that considerable damage had been done to a man whose had several serious health issues in recent years, notably neck surgery and a brain bleed. This was also referenced on last week’s show in a confrontation between himself, Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson.

It seems odd that Regal would be written off the show so soon after aligning with MJF. It either is a simply a ploy to get MJF over further as “The Devil” and to stop fans from cheering for him or could imply a reunion with Triple H is nigh.

Could the Game and the Gentleman Villian join forces once again?

The Game and Regal’s careers have interlinked for near-30 years, predating both of their WWE careers. They met in WCW, with The Game’s then- Jean-Paul Levesque character tagging with Lord Steven Regal.

More recently, they worked together in NXT with Regal serving as the on-screen General Manager on the Triple H-led brand from 2014. In 2018, he became the WWE’s Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting. Regal was one of many releases while Triple H was on a health-induced leave of absence.

Will the next few months see another familiar face return?
