Tottenham Hotspur are likely to assess their right wing-back situation in January, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

As well as that, Bridge thinks manager Antonio Conte may also look at signing a new centre-back and potentially an attacking midfielder.

Tottenham transfer news

Tottenham currently have Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence for the right wing-back position, but that has not stopped talk about the north London club being interested in Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries.

However, transfer reporter Dean Jones recently told GIVEMESPORT that Spurs signing the Netherlands international in January is unlikely.

Dumfries has really impressed for Louis van Gaal's side at the World Cup in Qatar, playing his part in the elimination of the USA in the last 16.

In the knockout game, the 26-year-old scored once and assisted twice, meaning he was involved in all three of his nation's goals in that 3-1 win against Gregg Berhalter's men.

What has Michael Bridge said about Tottenham's January transfer plans?

Bridge has told GMS that right wing-back is one area Conte could look to strengthen once the window reopens.

The Sky Sports reporter said: "I think Tottenham will look for a centre-half, they'll assess the right-back situation and consider an attacking midfielder."

Would Denzel Dumfries be a good signing for Tottenham?

If he is the right wing-back that Spurs end up with, then without a doubt. In Conte's 3-4-3 formation, he could be perfect.

According to Transfermarkt, Dumfries scored five goals and set up another five in 33 league games for Inter last season, showing the attacking threat he brings.

As per FBref, he has also ranked in the 99th percentile for touches in the opponent's penalty area among his positional peers over the last year, so this is a wing-back who loves to get forward.

"Denzel Dumfries. What a player he is," BBC pundit Micah Richards said after the Netherlands' victory against the USA. "I just thought his whole game was brilliant.

"It was his timing of his runs. He didn’t sort of mix it up too much, but when he did, it was the right moments. Down this right-hand side he was just breathless."

Unfortunately for Tottenham supporters, though, it does not look like a deal is going to happen next month.

In terms of alternatives, 90min recently claimed that Spurs are interested in Wolves' Adama Traore, so perhaps the Spain international could be another option.
