West Ham United will have Roberto Martinez as an option if they decide to part ways with David Moyes, believes journalist Dean Jones.

West Ham manager news - David Moyes

Moyes could soon find himself in real trouble at the London Stadium, with Jones recently telling GIVEMESPORT that he will be judged on West Ham's next three games.

The Scotsman has the east London club sitting in 16th in the Premier League after guiding them to just four wins this season so far.

It is in stark contrast to their league form last season, where West Ham managed to finish seventh in the table and qualify for the Europa Conference League.

And the campaign prior was even better, with Moyes and his men securing an impressive sixth-placed finish.

What has Dean Jones said about West Ham's manager situation?

Jones has told GMS that Martinez is one manager West Ham could consider should Moyes be given his marching orders.

The journalist said: "Of course, at the back of their minds, the club will have to be considering now what would happen next [if Moyes is sacked]. Roberto Martinez as an option will be mentioned, but how does he compare to other names that are going to be available in the market?"

How did Roberto Martinez do at the World Cup?

This year's World Cup was a tournament for Martinez to forget, as Belgium crashed out of the group stage.

Since then, the 49-year-old has left his role as the nation's head coach, making him available now should West Ham decide it is time to make a switch in the dugout.

While things did not go well for Martinez in Qatar, he can probably still be pleased with how his spell as Belgium boss went.

The Spaniard was at the helm for over six years and led the Red Devils to third place in the last World Cup. As per Transfermarkt, he oversaw 79 games in total, winning 56 of them. He lost 10 and drew 13, giving him a win success rate of around 70%.

Given that, and the fact that he has managed in the Premier League before after spells with Everton and Wigan, West Ham could probably do a lot worse than Martinez. Moyes, however, will obviously be looking to turn things around and retain his position at the London Stadium.
