Roman Reigns could have two matches at WWE WrestleMania 39, a new report has claimed.

For months now, it's been clear that if WWE can make it happen, the plan is for The Rock to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 next April.

However, Dave Meltzer has thrown a major spanner into the works, noting that Reigns may not only be facing The Rock at WWE's biggest show of the year in 2023.

What is WWE planning for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39?

As noted, it's almost common knowledge at this point that a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock is set to go down at WrestleMania 39, or at least that's what Triple H is hoping for.

However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that there has been talk from within WWE of Reigns wrestling on BOTH nights of WrestleMania 39 next year.

One of the things talked about internally in WWE is for Reigns to wrestle both nights at Mania, with the working ideas being Cody Rhodes and Dwayne Johnson.

The plan, as you can see above, would see Cody Rhodes facing Roman, presumably on night one, before Reigns facing Dwayne Johnson in what is expected to be the final match on night two.

However, Meltzer explains in the same report that Reigns wrestling twice in 24 hours is not expected to happen, but confirmed that WWE wants to separate the world titles heading out of WrestleMania.

Nothing is definite and actually today the best bet is that it won’t take place like that. There is also talk of splitting up the titles so Raw has a world champion after Mania.

Latest news on Roman Reigns

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is unlikely to wrestle again this year, with his next outing set to be against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble on January 28, 2023.

Despite that, fans can take solace in the fact that the first few months of 2023 will be huge for Reigns, with his title match against Owens not his only big clash before WrestleMania 39 in April.

Reigns is, according to a report from WrestlingNews.co, set to defend his Undisputed title against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber, which is set for Zayn's home state of Montreal, in February.
