Leeds United are set to lose right-back Cody Drameh in the January transfer window, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The 20-year-old has only ever made four Premier League appearances for the Whites, as per Transfermarkt, so manager Jesse Marsch may be willing to let him leave, with better options deemed to be available at Elland Road.

Leeds transfer news - Cody Drameh

While on loan at Cardiff City last season, Drameh made 22 appearances in the Championship, as per Transfermarkt, so he may have expected to feature more than he has done upon his return to Yorkshire, but Rasmus Kristensen has instead been the preferred choice.

An update from TEAMtalk detailed that a contract extension is now out of the equation for the youngster, with transfer insider Graeme Bailey claiming he is the subject of interest from Championship sides Norwich City and Middlesbrough.

A move abroad may also be in the offing, with the Daily Mail outlining Borussia Dortmund as potential suitors this winter, while the same publication also name Newcastle United as an interested party.

As per Leeds Live, Marsch recently stated that the starlet has had "the best two weeks" since he has been at the club, which may cast doubt on a potential move away, but it still seems to be on the cards.

What has O'Rourke said about Drameh?

O'Rourke claims that Drameh being allowed to leave would be detrimental to the club, but still believes that a move is likely to go ahead in January, telling GIVEMESPORT: "All the sounds coming out from Leeds and from his camp do seem to suggest that Cody Drameh will move on from Leeds United [in January], which would be a big blow for the club."

Should Drameh be allowed to leave?

The Englishman has never really been given a chance to prove himself in a Leeds shirt, but he impressed considerably on loan at Cardiff City last season, with manager Steve Morison hailing him as "excellent" to Wales Online.

His former boss also praised him for his "last-ditch tackles", an area in which he clearly specialises, as indicated by the defender completing an average of 3.93 tackles per 90 minutes over the past year, placing him in the 99th percentile compared to his positional peers.

Still at such a young age, the right-back would be a much better option as a back-up to Kristensen than Luke Ayling, who despite his loyal service to the club, is now 31, and the club need to prioritise bringing through younger options.

As such, Marsch should look to keep hold of Drameh this winter, with a view to giving him more opportunities in the first team when the Premier League season resumes.
